Press release of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Turkey on the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan

                                       
It is known that this year the election of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be held on December 22.

The elections provide an opportunity for all our compatriots living abroad to vote. Uzbek citizens temporarily or permanently residing abroad can apply at polling stations abroad or register on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and vote.

Uzbek citizens temporarily and permanently residing abroad can receive answers to questions about the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes on December 22, 2019 via the Central Electoral Commission hotline - phone + 99855-502-44-44.

In accordance with article 10 of the Electoral Code, the Central Election Commission decides to establish polling stations in diplomatic and other missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad. Polling stations at diplomatic and other representations of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad are formed by the Central Election Commission at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These polling stations must be formed no later than 60 days before the election, when the number of voters is at least twenty and not more than three thousand people.
 
Currently, 53 polling stations have been identified, created in the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign countries, and are attached to the respective constituencies. In particular, Site No. 3 was created at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara, and Site No. 23 was created at the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul. Both polling stations are attached to Kukcha constituency No. 148 in Tashkent.
 
The new Electoral Code, initiated by the initiative of our esteemed president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, embodies a vibrant democratic idea: “Human interests are above all!” A new and more effective period of electoral reform in our country has begun. The Code is an important factor in our elections based on democratic principles, such as transparency, fairness and impartiality, and provides ample opportunity and convenience for voters.
