Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Turkey spoke in detail about preparations for parliamentary elections


Today, a regular meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held, where it was noted that the CEC pays special attention to compliance with the implementation of the constitutional rights of citizens residing abroad in the context of the electoral law at polling stations open in foreign countries, Zamira Azizkhanova, correspondent of IA Dune, reports. .

The chairman of the Central Election Commission M. Abdusalomov noted that during the commission’s meetings, activities related to the organization and conduct of elections in the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, the USA, and the Republic of Korea were discussed in detail.

The agenda paid special attention to this issue. Through video conferencing, information was heard from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Turkey, Alisher Agzamkhodjaev.

The Ambassador spoke in detail about the preparations for the upcoming elections at polling stations in Turkey. In particular, he said that the activities of polling stations opened in Ankara and Istanbul are organized in accordance with the election laws of Uzbekistan. “The painstaking work continues on the formation of a list of voters who have expressed a desire to vote on December 22. Citizens of Uzbekistan located in Turkey can get all the comprehensive information about the upcoming elections on the website of the Embassy. Voter registration is also ongoing on saylov.mfa.uz. But at the same time, due to the lack of information materials, he asked representatives of five political parties to be more attentive to the electorate abroad, and to provide detailed information on election programs and other materials.

The meeting also heard information on the work being carried out at polling stations for persons with disabilities. It was noted that all conditions are created for their equal participation in the election process with all. The introduction of the rules for their unhindered participation in elections in the election code creates favorable conditions for their free participation in voting. The relevant decision of the CEC was adopted on this issue, which is another logical continuation of the agreement signed on September 27 this year between the Central Election Commission and the societies of people with disabilities, blind and deaf.

The meeting was informed that the initiative under the slogan “Equal Opportunities in Elections”, put forward by the above-mentioned societies, was fully supported and approved.

As a member of the CEC M.Dzhuraeva said, “the process of accreditation of representatives of domestic and foreign media continues. To date, 254 representatives of local media have received accreditation. The number of their foreign colleagues has reached 85.

In particular, the accreditation was granted to the television and radio channels Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan 24, Yoshlar, Sport, Tashkent, the Dunyo News Agency, the Makhallya and Mazalla Kazgusi newspapers, as well as foreign media - Information Agency and Radio Satellite - Uzbekistan, the German television channel ARD, IA Bloomberg and others.

Also during the meeting, it was informed that, on the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, 28 observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and 65 from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly were accredited.

In addition, other issues falling within the competence of the Central Election Commission were also discussed.
