A literary alley opened in Tashkent

On May 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Alley of Writers created in the Alisher Navoi National Park of Uzbekistan.

Plans for the creation of the alley were announced on February 3, 2017 during a visit to the park by the head of state. On April 18 of the same year, a corresponding decree of the President was adopted and an architectural and ideological project of the alley was developed.

Over the past period, construction and landscaping work has been carried out, and a single architectural ensemble of the Avenue of Writers has been created on an area of more than 8 hectares.

Before, there were monuments to only a few writers. It seemed as if after Alisher Navoi our land did not see creative talents.

Therefore, to further enrich the ideological and artistic content of the Alley of Writers, monuments were erected to such outstanding masters of the pen as Babur, Ogaha, Berdakh, Mukimi, Furkat, Behbudi, Avloni, Chulpan, Kadyri, Tolepbergen Kayipbergenov, Ibraim Yusupov, Alexander Fainberg.

Around the majestic statue of our great ancestor Navoi, monuments to more than 20 famous poets and writers were erected in a single architectural and artistic composition. Here was built the building of the Union of Writers, which organically fit into the ensemble.

Today, the head of state visited the park and laid flowers at the foot of the monument to Alisher Navoi, got acquainted with the work done and the conditions created in the alley.

At a meeting with writers and poets, creative intelligentsia, attention was paid to the attention paid to the development of national literature in recent years, and to important next tasks.

- Literature is the soul of the people, a mirror of its spirituality. In today's complex world, it is necessary to use the influential power of prose and poetry to penetrate the hearts of people, inspire them to noble goals. “We will create all conditions for studying the heritage of our ancestors, creating great literature worthy of our glorious culture,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The works of our classics are constantly published domestically. Now the world should learn about them, emphasized at the meeting. For example, the works of Alisher Navoi, Mirzo Babur, Abdullah Kadiri, Chulpan are published in foreign languages. But this is due to personal initiative and the efforts of translators.

It was noted that the Union of Writers should take the initiative in this direction, and, together with the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek language and literature, it should organize the translation and publication of the best samples of Uzbek literature in different languages.

Recommendations are given on turning the Avenue of Writers into a center of culture, spirituality and education for all of our people, especially young people, holding poetry evenings, book presentations, exhibitions, and educational events. The importance of studying the work of classics, publishing books, making films about their exemplary life is emphasized.

- We often talk about the "heroes of our time." Today it is our dedicated doctors fighting the coronavirus, brave military, generous entrepreneurs, patriotic youth. It will be interesting and instructive to read about their exploits, ”said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted that today's young people use the Internet and electronic literature more, but the promotion of our national literature on the Internet is not well organized.

In this regard, the President proposed the creation of the Internet portal "Alley of Writers".

This source will contain electronic copies of works of classical and modern literature, master classes of writers and literary critics. There will be separate sections dedicated to each of the writers and poets whose monuments are erected in the Literary Alley. The portal will operate in Uzbek, English and Russian, which will allow foreign literature lovers and experts to use it.

Presentations of higher educational institutions on their studies of the work of writers took place here. The head of state also familiarized himself with the library erected next to the avenue.
