The legacy of the great scholar Ahmad al-Fergani commemorated in Ankara
ANKARA, April 21. /Dunyo IA/. In the capital of Turkiye, the memory of the great thinker, scholar, and statesman Ahmad al-Fergani was honored with a ceremony marking the unveiling of his bust, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was attended by Avazkhon Tadzhikhanov, First Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan; Mesut Ozarslan, Mayor of Kecioren District in Ankara; Sayit Yusuf, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY; representatives of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, the diplomatic corps, academic circles, and the general public.
In his speech at the unveiling ceremony, Avazkhon Tadzhikhanov noted that in recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been actively developing. Cultural and humanitarian ties, which bring the two peoples closer, play a special role in this process. He emphasized that the installation of the bust of the great thinker Ahmad al-Fergani in a park in Ankara holds significant spiritual importance.
In turn, the Mayor of Kecioren District, Mesut Ozarslan, emphasized that the scientific legacy of Ahmad al-Fergani is a source of pride and inspiration not only for Uzbeks but also for all Turkic peoples. He stated that the purpose of memorializing the thinker’s name is to inspire the younger generation toward knowledge and enlightenment.
Sayit Yusuf, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, specifically highlighted the invaluable contributions of Ahmad al-Fergani’s discoveries in astronomy, geography, and mathematics, and their impact on the development of world science. He declared that the initiative to install the bust as a symbol of unity among Turkic states is highly commendable.
At the end of the ceremony, a concert was held, which made a great impression on the attendees and added a festive spirit to the event.
